New Combat Archery Marshal
It is with great pleasure that we announce Nahama Joy (formerly Adelaide Dewey) as our new Combat Archery Marshal.
Nahama will officially take over the position from Sir John Bowyer on February 1st, 2025. She is still the person to ask questions about Combat Archery and authorizations through January.
The Armored Combat community would like to express our gratitude to John Bowyer for holding down the fort with Combat Archery in Calontir for many years. We appreciate you!
Please join me in thanking John and helping Nahama move forward into the future!

Armored Combat Rules and Handbook Updates
Greetings, Calontir! This message serves as an important update for all participants in Armored Combat.
Effective January 1st, 2025, all authorized Armored Combat marshals will be classified as WARRANTED. This change eliminates the previous reporting requirements for Calontir Armored Combat Marshals. Due to this change, all Calontir warranted/authorized marshals must be a paid member of the Society. It is crucial to note that failure to report any activities, events, practices, incidents, or issues, witnessed or while you are in actively in charge of any AC activities, while serving as a warranted marshal, may result in the loss of your marshal status. You may check out the new reporting guidelines here: Calontir Armored Combat Marshal Reporting Guidelines.
The Calontir Armored Combat Marshal’s Handbook has been revised and updated! The updated version now incorporates the approved materials from the new Society Marshal Handbooks, which will be accessible on Wiki in the coming months. Additionally, we have introduced a new Calontir Armored Combat Traditions Handbook.
As we progress through the year, please stay alert for announcements regarding updates and changes. Ensure that your email address is up to date in the CALON system to receive all forthcoming information. For any questions or clarifications, feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Upcoming event bids for 2025
Good afternoon!
As we are rapidly approaching the holidays and new year. A reminder to groups that due to the new policies of Reeve and Chronicler, if you’re wanting to host an event in say March, your paperwork and fliers are due by January 1st. If your group hosts a traditional event in April and May, now is the time to get on that planning. Your paperwork and fliers will be due February and March 1st, respectively! If you’re concerned about dates for an event, email me. I have a lot of open dates at the moment, but that is going to change very quickly. If you’re wanting to host Kingdom A&S or CalonCon those bids are due by February 1st. CalonCon in June, will be in person.
And a final reminder, ALL official bids MUST be submitted by your group seneschal/chair person utilizing the official seneschal/chair person email of your group/guild. As always, email me if you have any questions.

Calontir Steel Rules Survey
Hello Calontir!
As many are aware, the Steel Marshal team has been discussing potential updates to the Kingdom rules book. I would like as much feedback as possible on potential changes, both things that my team has been discussing and things the community has brought to my attention.
In service to that, I’ve made a survey! Please fill it out, and let me know what you think. This is open to both Marshals and Fighters, and we will be discussing it at the Marshals Meeting at Kris Kinder.
Thank you!

Event Flyer Publication Policy Change
Calontir!
I saved the best for last and am working on this right up to the last minute. This will be my final issue as Chronicler for the Kingdom of Calontir, by the time this issue goes to press, I will have stepped down at Toys for Tots and Lord Randal Logan of Knightbridge will be stepping into my position. Please, show him the same kindness and courtesy that you have shown me.
You will see some drastic changes to the layout for this last issue of 2024. These are a result of requests for more time for a flyer to run in the Mews, for event pages to be created on FaceBook, more time for Pre-Registration to take place, for people to plan better on what events they can attend, and when they are happening and where. Will those requests come changes. For more flyers / event information to run, the information submitted needs to be trimmed — drastically. Going forward all event “flyers” will be at maximun 1/4-page, text only.
The information required is: Event Name, Group hosting, Date, Time that Site opens and closes, Event Registration Fees, Name both SCA and Mundane of the Event Steward along with a contact email for them AND a phone number. All this information is non-negotiable and is require both by Corpora and Calontir.
But what about the work that we put into the flyer? The artwork, the extra “fluff” bits??? Where will that go? Do not worry, the event flyers that you send will be added to the Kingdom Calendar on the Kingdom website, or they might even be incorporated into the event information, it just depends on time and other things. Also, all of that information can be added to the event page that our KSMO, Mielikkä will create for you once the Mews is published by Society, and not before! Also, websites, all this information can also go on to the event website.
Another reason for the change is that I have had a number of flyers recently that had either incorrect dates, an address that was not correct, pricing information was not correct, or event staff was listed that we later find out are not staff. It takes time for me to request the new information from the event steward or group seneschal for them to edit the flyer, get it to me and for me to update the page. Now, with the required information and it being in an editable format, the Chronicler is not waiting for anyone to get back to them, they can change the information and also have the Mews to Publications on time.
I know not everyone will be pleased with these changes, but give it time, we are trying to make it so we can get as much information out to everyone in a timely manner. And who knows, maybe with this change we will see more events showing up in the Kingdom.

Event Bid Policy Change
Good afternoon,
This is an important announcement from the kingdom reeve. Going forward, ALL event submissions MUST be submitted to me via your group seneschal through their official seneschal or official group chair (lilies/cooks’ guild/etc) email. If an event bid is submitted by the event steward or through a personal email, it will be automatically rejected. Additionally, going forward, if your group is submitting a bid for a kingdom level event (crown, coronation, qpt, kingdom a&s, king’s company of archers, caloncon, etc) and utilizing the pdf form, ALL signatures must be handwritten by each party required (group seneschal, exchequer, financial committee member, and baronage member, if applicable). Electronic signatures are no longer acceptable for the time being. If you have questions please email me at reeve @ calontir . org
Thank you,Jorunna Refsdottir
