Come these words from the Crown
We're pleased to announce the investiture of Honorable Lord Giacomo dalla Fattoria dello Stato and Lady Nadya Helming as the next Baron and Baroness of Three Rivers, which will take place at Crown Tournament.
We are deeply grateful for the work that Baroness Gwendolyn and Baron Duncan have done to keep the Barony healthy and happy. Their leadership and effort are clear to Us, and the strength of the Barony is made obvious by the breadth of good candidates.
    Thank you all.
It promises to be a glorious day

  • Requesting Letters for a Minister of Arts & Sciences Replacement

    Unto All, Greetings!

My time as Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences is coming to an close. With a light at the end of the COVID tunnel, I would request a Letter of Intent (LoI) for any who would like to step into the position. Please include in your letter any officer, Autocrat, or other leadership positions you have held as well as any ideas you have for your time in office. Top candidates will be requested to have a follow-up interview via Zoom.

LoIs are best sent by email to the official minister’s email, [email protected]. Please send these letters no later than April 30th so that a decision for my successor may be made by Queen’s Prize in May. • Crown Tournament – Letters of Intent

Unto the good people of Calontir

Do Queen Magdalena and King Hirsch send these words
Good people of Calontir, you inspire Us.
One of the main responsibilities of the Crown is that of finding Heirs, so that the honored traditions of Calontir can continue, and continue to be fun. Leading Calontir is a tremendous honor – and an experience without compare.
Look around you – we are surrounded by nobility, we encourage it in one another.
Look within – you have grown, you continue to grow and learn.
Converse with others – discuss what it means to compete in Crown Tournament.
If you are a member in good standing, and meet the requirements in Kingdom Law, and are inspired, then take pen in hand.
Tell us who you are, and why you're inspired to enter Crown Tournament, as Combatant or Consort.
Tell us what events you've attended since June of 2021.
And tell us something of what you chose to do with your time, before that, when there were no events to attend.
Please communicate your intent to us, at [email protected], and to Our Seneschal Galen, at [email protected]
Letters of intent are due by midnight on Saturday March 26th.
We know that there are many who are capable of leading this kingdom well.
We look forward to reading your letters.
We remain proud to be your
    King Hirsch and Queen Magdalena

    Peace. Love. Calontir.

  • Calendar change

We thank everyone for their thoughtful comments on the calendar change.

This is a challenging issue, when we know it is impossible to please everyone. There are those who disagree with the premise that having Heirs at foreign wars is beneficial, that the calendar is fine the way it is.  We would not be having this conversation if We believed that.

After reviewing the comments and opinions of the people, We will be changing the Kingdom Calendar to hold Crown Tournament the first week of June and December, Coronation the first weekend of April and October. This was the most popular option, and this schedule gives Heirs both the opportunity to attend foreign wars, and sufficient time to plan for those.  The transition to this calendar that had the most support is to cancel July Coronation, and hold Coronation in October – currently scheduled as Crown Tournament. Conversations about this transition, and event bids for the new schedule have also begun.

In addition to the change of schedule for Crown Tournament and Coronation, We are recognizing Masters of the Duel as a Royal Event, for Calontir Stile.

We are removing specific weekends in Kingdom Law for Royal Events, to increase flexibility in scheduling Royal Events.
Masters of the Duel will be held annually
King’s Companie of Archers will be held annually
Calon Con will be held annually, in January or February (a virtual event)
Queen’s Prize Tournament will be held annually, in April or May
Kingdom Arts and Sciences will be held annually, in October or November
This balances Queen’s Prize and Kingdom A&S between the two reigns, and schedules the Calon Con, now held virtually, during winter, the less favorable travel period.

After much consideration and conversation, we are not creating a Royal Event for Equestrian.  Our Equestrian community is strong and wise, and have given us good counsel in this regard. The current patterns for Equestrian events are functioning well,  and there is no need to disrupt this activity with a Royal Event.

The new Kingdom Calendar can be viewed at:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iX955HjAjWIwj2_FRA8UuWIW53LACFoa/view?usp=sharing

Thank you one and all for sharing your opinions, and for continuing to create these current middle ages together.

    King Hirsch and Queen Magdalena

    Peace. Love. Calontir.

  • Calontir COVID Guidelines for Event Attendance (Update)…

    Good morning Calontir!
After extensive review of currently available data, and in consultation with Their Majesties, it has been decided to adjust Calontir’s COVID Guidelines for event attendance. If you have any questions regarding the guidelines please contact me at [email protected]. The new guidelines are as follows…

Current Rules for Calontir Event Attendance (effective March 4, 2022)
•These rules apply to both events and local meetings, practices, and gatherings.
•These rules are in addition to, not in place of, the Society level rules from the BoD.
•These rules are the MINIMUM requirements, and local group leadership may enact more stringent requirements if the local health conditions warrant.
•All Local, State, and Federal Guidelines are to be followed, including masking and gathering size limits.
•If you are fully vaccinated and it has been long enough that the vaccine will have reached maximum efficacy, you may choose not to wear a mask while outdoors.
•Everyone over the age of 24 months must mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
•Masks must be worn covering the nose and mouth.
•You may bring your own food to an event and you may share it with others.
•Food may be served in an official capacity, such as an inn or vigil table.
•If you would usually be required to be masked, you must distance a minimum of 6 feet to unmask for eating or drinking.
o Vaccinated members of the populace may be closer than 6 feet outdoors, but must still distance to eat or drink indoors.
o Unvaccinated members of the populace must distance at least 6 feet to eat or drink both indoors and out.
•Feasts will not be allowed at this time.
•Water Bearing may be provided from the communal coolers, but only into personal containers, not our traditional shared jugs.

    Requests from the Crown
•If you are medically able to get the Covid Vaccine, please do so. If you are due for a booster, please get one.
•Please do not attend gatherings if you are not feeling well. If someone in your household is Covid positive, or symptomatic, please stay home.
•Please respect the comfort levels of those who wish to follow more stringent masking and distancing practices than are strictly required.
•The SCA is an organization of chivalry and community. Please remember these values and help us all set a good example for the rest of the Known World.

In all things kindness, peace, and love.

Note: The above are in addition to Calontir’s COVIDSafe policy, which is still in place.

  • Calendar Change Proposals – Poll

Thank you to everyone who commented within the calendar change proposal documents. As We refine Our options and approach a decision, We have decided to poll the populace on some specific details.  There are three distinct options, re-labeled proposals A, B, and C. The poll also asks opinions about the best way to transition to a new calendar, as that will affect Our Heirs.

We believe that the simplest way to transition to any of the 2023 Calendar options is to replace Crown with Coronation this October, and to cancel July Coronation.  That would mean that Our Heirs, chosen in April, would have a longer time as Heirs, to prepare for Their reign.

Adding Royal Events for Equestrian and Stile, while it provides balance for martial events, does mean a commitment to hold these events.  We’re adding flexibility to the Kingdom Law to specify “held annually” rather than a specific weekend.  Our office of the Reeve is responsible for scheduling events, and Kingdom Law does not need to be more specific with these – but the questions remain, do we want them to be Royal Events?

Please give this some thought, take a few minutes and complete this poll:

Amendment to Current Rules for Calontir Event Attendance (as of February 2022)
After considering additional guidance from the CDC we are amending one item

    • Everyone 24 months of age and older must mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status. N95, KN95, or KF94 masks are to be worn indoors, for all activities including fighting, both armored and steel.
