  • New Event System is now Live

    Greetings Calontir,

It is with great pleasure that we can announce the launch of our new kingdom event bid system as part of CALON. This system provides a workflow for groups to submit events to the Reeve, to provide informational updates to those events, and for that information to populate the kingdom event calendar.

It is our hope that this system will greatly improve our kingdom’s digital communications about events by providing a single, authoritative source for information in a structured and accessible way.

The tools that we have created in CALON will put Group Seneschals and Event Stewards in control of their events by allowing them to directly and continuously update the Kingdom website.

A more in-depth explanation of how to use this system can be found here.

    Briefly:

    1. This system provides a toolset for group Seneschals and Event Stewards to submit and update information about their event to the Kingdom Reeve and Website. This system replaces the previous Google Form and Google Calendar and can be used for both regular events and Royal Events.
    2. The Calendar will link to an “Event Webpage” for every event based on the information submitted using this form. These pages will include information about the event, the site, the schedule, and the staff in a structured way that will make it easier for people to find the information that they are looking for.
    3. Seneschals can generate the required Event Bid signature form for submitting Royal Events based on the information entered on the web form. Event Sites are stored in the system and can be re-used, which should make data entry far easier when re-using sites for Royal Events.

We would encourage group Seneschals – especially those who have events occuring over the next few months – to login to CALON and update their event information. We will be working on tidying up some of information that wasn’t fully transferred over the next few days.

Please contact support@calontir.org if you need help using this system or to report any bugs that you find.

We will hold 2 virtual training sessions next week – One on Monday April 7 at 6pm and another on Tuesday April 8 at 6pm. The links for these will be published a few minutes before they start.

This project is the culmination of nearly 2 years of work by the CALON development team and the Kingdom Reeve. We’d also like to acknowledge Jon Chesey for his work compiling a historic event calendar from paper copies of the Mews. As new events are submitted through CALON, they will be added to this list.

  • Armored Combat Updates 3/29/2025

Attention all armored combatants and marshals!

We have recieved two important updates regarding equipment standards:

    1. The “potato masher” rubber mace heads have been thoroughly tested by Society and have been deemed safe and legal for use in armored combat, provided they contain no metal within the rubber. Please, double check your maces and use them with caution.

Example photos of “Potato Masher” rubber mace heads.

    2. Vambraces will continue to be considered optional for arm armor standards, but Society strongly encourages combatants to wear them to protect the ulna bone in the forearm.

Forearm vambraces and human arm diagram.

Thank you for your attention, and stay safe in the lists!

    In service,

    Allison of Forgotten Sea

    Kingdom Armored Combat Marshal

  • Seeking New Kingdom Earl Marshal Deputy

Greetings Calontir from your Kingdom Earl Marshal!

With Gulf Wars behind us, and the beginning of the second half of my term, the time has come to for me to look towards taking a deputy or two.

If you are a Marshal (of any martiallate activity) and are interested in seeing how things work at a higher level, please feel free to put in a Letter of Intent! I will be taking letters for the next 30 days, and will set up interviews after the deadline.

The only requirement I have for this position is being a Warranted Marshal in any of the Martiallate styles and a willingness to learn! It is important to note thay there will be no expectations put on any Deputy KEM as far as future commitments, as this is an opportunity to learn the “behind the scenes” administration duties and maybe get a better idea of how things happen at that level.

For letters of intent, please include Name, Martial activities you participate in and length of time in the activity, and also why you are interested in the position. Letters should be sent to earlmarshal@calontir.org.

    In Service,

    Meister Jurgen Weiter von Landstuhl
