  • Crown Tournament

    Greeting to the Outstanding Populace of Calontir

    Our Crown Tournament approaches on December 3rd in Our Shire-March of Grimfells. We will accept letters of intent to contest in Our Crown Lists until the end of Toys for Tots on November 19th. 

    Please make yourself familiar with Kingdom Law, specifically Article VI. We will expect the letter required in Section 104 to include:
    • Proof of Membership (Copy of fighter and consort's membership cards showing expiration date.)
    • Proof of Residence (Copy of fighter and consort's drivers license showing address.)
    • List of events attended in the last 12 months.
    • List of offices/positions held in the SCA.
    • An explanation of why you wish to contest for the Crown of Calontir.

    Please send copies of your letter of intent to both Us and Our seneschal.

    We encourage everyone to do so and look forward to a large turnout, both on and off the list field. Reigning over Calontir is not only a privilege, but a joy.

  • CALON Management System

    Attention all authorized fighters and marshals:

    After many months of work, we are pleased to announce the initial launch of a new system, the Calontir Online (CALON) Management System, for accessing authorization cards and for filing marshal’s reports. This system is linked to the online Order of Precedence, Armorial, and officer listings – and will provide a simpler and more powerful interface for managing all of our kingdom’s data.

    CALON is a replacement for the FALCON system that has served our kingdom for many years. In order to access the new system, you should login directly to the calontir website at http://calontir.org/login. 

    We have initialized the system to use the same Gmail credentials as were used on FALCON – and for most of you, accessing CALON will be as simple as clicking on the login link above and selecting “Login with Google” when prompted. A pdf of your authorization card and the marshal report form can then be accessed through the WordPress Dashboard. Full instructions can be found here. If you have difficulty accessing the system,  please first read the “Troubleshooting” section of the instruction document. If that does not solve your issue, please contact the web team at [email protected]. 

    For those who have already filed their quarterly report or any other report since August using FALCON, we ask that you resubmit those reports on the new system.

    Please also take note that we have added a feature to the populace listings on the Order of Precedence (http://calontir.org/op) that allows you to view the authorizations and current and past offices held by individuals and allows our marshals to print off fighter cards. We are constantly updating CALON to add new features – so keep an eye out for future announcements!

    This list is NOT comprehensive, as additional meetings may be added after Our Heirs are known.

    As we informed all the Fyrd orders at Coronation, they are encouraged to meet on their own and present candidates to Us through the online award recommendation system. If enough candidates are brought up, a meeting may be called.

  • Requesting Applicants for Gold Falcon Herald

    Hello Calontir!  My time as Gold Falcon Herald will be coming to an end in at the beginning of March 2023.  We are seeking volunteers to serve as Principal Herald.  Please send all Letters of Intent or Inquiry to [email protected].  Letters should include a listing of your previous positions, relevant skills, and experience.  Letters will be due by December 2, 2022.

  • Fall Coronation Site Update…

    Earlier this evening I was informed that the site for Coronation was no longer available. A new site has been secured. Coronation will now be held at the Mills County Fairgrounds, 61317 315th St, Malvern, IA 51551. Activities will otherwise remain as before. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.   • Vigils and Laurel, Pelican elevations at Gryphon’s at Sea

    Queen Magdalena and King Hirsch will be placing Mistress Halimah bint 'al Abbas 'al Tanji on vigil at 10:00am, and placing His Lordship Eynon Llangenydd on vigil at 10:30am.  Elevation ceremonies will be in evening Court.

  • Board’s COVIDSafe Announcement…

    Good Evening Calontir,

    When the COVIDSafe policy was initially announced nearly a year ago, we did not immediately adopt it. We examined the available data, determined the need based on that data, and created a criteria for adoption, review, and suspension that was data driven. This approach was designed to prevent major decisions of this kind from being made based on fear or misguided political rhetoric. This approach has served us well.

    As many of you have likely noticed, there was an announcement today from the SCA Board of Directors, the text of which can be found here…

    …They have made the decision to suspend the COVIDSafe policy across the SCA effective December 1, 2022, and to reserve unto themselves any future decisions regarding COVID related policy. After consulting with Their Majesties, and Their Highnesses, the decision has been made to continue the COVIDSafe policy, and current COVID Guidelines for Event Attendance, through Toys for Tots on November 19th, 2022. That event will be the last event for both in the Kingdom of Calontir. This will keep us in compliance with the directive received from the Board of Directors while extending the protections offered by the current policy for as long as is practical.

  • New Kingdom Emergency Deputy Seneschal…

    It is my great pleasure to announce that the new Emergency Deputy Seneschal for the Kingdom of Calontir will be Countess Giulia Isabella da Venezia. I look forward to working with her in the coming months to prepare her to take over as the next Kingdom Seneschal when the time comes. I would also like to thank His Lordship Saito Takauji for serving in that role as I continued to seek a successor. I wish him well in his upcoming role as the next Baron of Mag Mor.
