  • Lilies War update – We need your activities!

Greetings from your Lilies War “Drums of War” Staff”,

War is coming quickly upon us. Two short months and we will be set up, attending our favorite war activities, seeing old friends, and meeting new ones! We are all very excited with how the war is coming together thus far.

    Submit your activities!

The schedules are beginning to be filled in with the official events for this Lilies War; however, it is the activities that you the populace bring to the war that make it special. The cutoff date for activities to be included in the Site Book is now 10th May. Would you like to teach a class? Have a tournament or shoot that you’ve always wanted to see happen? Does your group want to sponsor and run a revel or social? All of these things and so many more can be found on the Lilies War website! (https://www.lilieswar.org/activities/).

A reminder that Guilds need to also submit their sessions and classes via the activities forms as well please! That way they can make it into the site book, onto the official schedule and folks know when things are happening so they can attend!

Order Meeting schedule will be posted very soon

We know that it’s easier to submit activities (and also volunteer) when you know that you’ll be free. The Order Meeting schedules will be posted very soon to help with your activity submissions.

To see the schedule, head to the Schedule page on the website: https://www.lilieswar.org/schedule/

If you have any questions please contact one of the members of our staff – full listing available here on the website: https://www.lilieswar.org/lilies-war/lilies-war-staff/

We are so excited to be hosting this year’s war. We hope all of you will come join us. Pack up your camping gear, your garb, and bring a drum and travel back with us to the days of friends, family, chivalry, and so much more!

  • Lilies War – Bardic, A&S, Tours & Volunteers!

    Greetings Calontir!

Welcome to another round of Lilies War announcements. This week we have Bardic and Arts & Sciences, Tours, and calls for Volunteers

Bardic Tent location, and Arts & Sciences classes

We are pleased to let you know that the Bardic Tent will be moved from its traditional location down to the point! We will be putting it up near the “Falcon’s Revel” to ensure the best chance for a breeze that will carry your words and cool your temperatures while learning about and participating in the bardic arts.

Please bring your drums, your songs, and your stories. We love our bards, and nothing makes a heart happier than the music of its people!

Speaking of arts, we would like to remind you to please get your activity forms to teach in the Arts and Sciences area turned in as soon as possible. The schedule is being worked on now, and for your class to appear in the printed site book, the deadline is May 10, 2025. If you are the head of a guild, please get your class lists turned in using the same system. We want to offer a full schedule, and we cannot do so without you.

Tours for mundane non-attendees, and Artisan’s Roadshow

Tours will be held for mundane non attendees on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 10:00AM CDT until 2:00 PM CDT. We will be hosting an Artisans Road Show area during these times so our visitors can see what cool things we do. If you’d be willing to assist with this project or help by working on and showing your cool stuff, please contact our Arts and Sciences coordinator, Lady Gabrielle des Chat Noirs.

    Calling for Volunteers

Finally, we are calling for all to please volunteer for the war. We need golf cart drivers, gate workers, marshals, heralds, port o’ john re-stockers, shower house clean-up crew, and so much more! Thank you to everyone that has already volunteered, and to those that will soon. Active schedules are currently being posted to the website so that you can plan your volunteer hours around the activities you wish to attend.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your event staff, there is a full listing on the website.

  • Seeking New Kingdom Webminister

    Greetings Calontir,

We are seeking volunteers to fill the role of Kingdom Webminister. The Kingdom Webminister position includes several duties including maintaining the kingdom website, managing local webministers and kingdom deputies, and providing technical support for the various online tools and systems that the kingdom uses.

While computer programming skills may be beneficial, they are not required for this position. Individuals with technical aptitude and a willingness to learn can be successful in this role. We will provide training in the use and management of the systems used by Calontir.

The typical term of office for a kingdom officer is 2 years. The role of Webminister requires a commitment of roughly 10 hours/week.

If you are interested in this position, or have additional questions, please send an email to webminister@calontir.org. Applications should include an explanation of your technical skills and SCA experience allong with an outline of your goals for what you would like to accomplish with your term in office.

    Sincerely,

    Gawin Kappler
    Calontir Webminister

  • Webminister Position Change

    Hello Calontir,

I am writing to inform the populace that this week will be my last week as Calontir Webminister. This is my own decision and is not related to anything going on within the Kingdom. My personal life has simply taken over all of my time lately and I have not been able to keep up with my duties.

My Emergency Deputy and predecessor Gawin will be taking back over the office in the immediate term. My term was almost up and I honestly should have already been looking for a successor. Hopefully a new Webminister can be found relatively easily so that Gawin can keep focusing on the awesome work he’s doing on CALON!

That leads me to an important acknowledgement. While I did do a good bit of the day to day minutia of user management, policy decisions, answering questions, and so on I think it is important to note that it was Gawin and Ffelix who continued pushing forward the CALON features and enhancements with very little help from me. If nothing else I hope my tenure as webminister gave them some breathing room to be able to focus on making the web experience better for everyone in the kingdom! In addition, all of the many deputies that work for the Webminister (Kingdom and Local both) are absolutely irreplaceable and I am incredibly thankful for all the work they do. There is absolutely no way a single person, or three people, could keep up!

If anyone needs anything from me specifically, please reach out over personal communications as I will be handing over the webminister email in the next couple days.

    Thank you,
    Líknvé in spaka
    Calontir Webminister

  • Crown Tournament Announcement from the Marshals

Greetings, noble participants and spectators! During the Calontir Crown Tournament, we will be designating two special viewing areas next to the listfield for consorts and ONE additional support person. These will be marked with taped-out boxes on the ground, allowing only two individuals per box while the consort’s fighter is in combat.

Spectators bringing your own chairs and set up: Please be aware that seating directly behind these boxes may obstruct your view of the action.

After each bout, we kindly ask that the consort and their supporter step out of the box and move aside to maintain clear visibility for all attendees. This will ensure everyone can enjoy the tournament while supporting their champions. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. May the day be full of Chivalry and Honor!

    In service,

    Your Calontir Crown Tournament Marshals

  • Lilies War 2025 update- Activities & Gatherings!

The cutoff date for activities to be included in the Site Book is 1st May. Would you like to teach a class? Have a tournament or shoot that you’ve always wanted to see happen? Does your group want to sponsor and run a revel or social? All of these things and so many more can be found on the Lilies War website! (https://www.lilieswar.org/).

    Evening social gatherings

This year we will be adding a location that we are affectionately calling “The Falcon’s Revel“. It will be located down on the point, (where we usually gather to watch the fireworks and the Barony of Three Rivers (B3R) party is held). This is a call back to Lilies of old, where many of the official evening social gatherings were held down at the bonfire. If you or your group are interested in hosting a revel or evening social that will be an official part of the war, this, or the Permanent Shelter, is where we will strongly encourage they be scheduled.  All groups hosting at this location will have access in the early morning of your revel/social, and you can drive your vehicle down the road to the point to drop off anything you need to run your activity.

Advertising will be done for you as not only will your activity be on the official schedule on the website and in the site book, but it will also be announced during morning announcements.

Now, we hear you. Does this mean that you have to use these locations in order to host official revels/gatherings? Absolutely not! Does that mean you can’t hold a more private gathering in your own camp? Of course not. Does this mean that if you and your friends want to set up a round of Irish Road Bowling that you can’t? Never! It only means that the official revels and socials will have a place where everyone knows that they are invited and welcome. Not to mention those that are not night owls will know where not to camp!

Finally, we want you to know that we need all of you to make this war an event that everyone will remember for the rest of the current middle ages. This is our official request to each and every single person, whether it be a peer or a newcomer, we want you all. We need all of your help. We want all of your amazing ideas. Have a question, please contact us. We will work to find a solution to any concerns you may have and we appreciate all of your input.

We are so excited to be hosting this year’s war. We hope all of you will come join us. Pack up your camping gear, your garb, and bring a drum and travel back with us to the days of friends, family, chivalry, and so much more!
