  • September Internal Decision Meeting and AMA 9/23

    Greetings! 

    Since we have a relatively light letter to review this month, and as I am seeking to train a replacement, I thought I would offer a Submission Herald Ask Me Anything following the conclusion of our letter review. 
    Ask the burning questions you may have about being a Submission Herald*, like what is the job like? What’s my favorite heraldic color, and why should you become a Submission Herald; also questions you may have about turning in submissions from your clients.**

  • Time Slot Announcement for Kingdom Arts & Sciences

     
    Hello,
     
    A&S Master scheduler here.  There are a lot of actives going on at Kingdom Arts and Sciences and as such we will have a tight schedule  for sessions.  This is the anticipated entry schedule.  This MAY change when I start making the actual schedule (but probably not).

    You will note there is not a break in the middle of the day for lunch.  However, I have spoken to the Inn steward and they will serve from 11am -2pm AND I will ensure NO ONE is scheduled without an hour break at one of the lunch time sessions.
     
    If you have a need for a break at a certain time for lunch, please let me know asap if you are a judge or an entrant.  I will do my best to accommodate preferences, but I want to ensure needs are met.

  • Fall Crown Tournament LOI dates

    Crown tournament will be Saturday November 9th in the Barony of Vatavia.   Letters of Interest are due at least two weeks prior to crown per kingdom law (25 October 2024), but we are accepting them as early as the 1st of September.   The tournament style will be best weapons, and the shield restrictions for this crown tournament will be don’t bring something stupid that you don’t normally fight with.  If you want to fight with a shield larger than your arm span but are unsure if it will be accepted just contact me with a picture and tell me why you want to fight with it.  I will let you know if it is ok.  For your letters please include the following:

    Background in the SCA (i.e. how long you have been playing, jobs you have held, current activity and the reason you want to fight in the crown tournament).  

    Proof of membership (Copy of membership cards and picture of driver’s license)

    Contact information (email/phone number)

    Address

    Please send your LOI to both [email protected]  and [email protected].

    We will let everyone know prior to the crown tournament if your letter was accepted.

  • Calontir Digital Strategy Series

    Greetings Calontir!
    As part of our effort to improve online communication throughout the kingdom, the Webministry will be hosting a series of online training/discussion sessions in order to help the populace better understand our web infrastructure. This 4-part series will provide an overview of how various online technologies are being used in Calontir and will provide an opportunity to discuss how the kingdom can leverage online tools in the future.
    These will be held weekly starting next Monday using Google Meet. Web links will be added to this announcement shortly before the meeting starts.

    I am pleased to announce our next class in our “getting Started” series of virtual classes. 
    On September 1, 2024, our very own Kingdom Seneschall will be teaching us what the different offices are, and what they do! This will be a valuable class for anyone interested in either becoming an officer some day or simply knowing who you need to go to in your local group or the kingdom for specific types of information.

  • Chillies Royal Peer Roundtable Discussion

    Hello Calontir.
    Have you ever had any interest in being Crown of Calontir, or are you just curious about what all goes on behind the scenes? Well here is your chance to hear from former royals about their impression of what it takes.
    At the upcoming Chillies event in October, there will be a roundtable discussion about what it takes to sit the Falcon Throne. It will be at the permanent pavilion by the battlefield on Saturday evening. Some of the topics will be (but not limited to):
    • What people should consider before putting in a letter of intent;
    • What a letter of intent should contain;
    • What is expected the day of the tournament;
    • Having a plan for winning;
    • What is expected of the heirs;
    • How to interact with your crown;
    • What needs to be done before coronation;
    • What is expected of the crown;
    • How to interact with your heirs;

    A wide range of former royals will be there to talk about these things and answer your questions. We hope to see you there.
